If you care at all about your health eliminate animal products. You will not only be doing the most good for yourself but also the planet. Livestock is a huge problem for global warming. You hear more and more about water shortages. Did you know that it takes 12,000 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of beef? It also takes 22 pounds of grain to produce this 1 pound of beef. There is also a huge pollution problem with the waste from all the livestock that is raised simply for slaughter so that people can consume it and then can become sick.
You can get all the protein that you need from plant sources. Did you know that all plants have all of the amino acids necessary in varying amounts?
High cholesterol levels are not only associated with heart disease but also with cancer. As intake of animal protein goes up so does cholesterol. As intake of plant based foods go up cholesterol goes down. Animal products are also linked to plaque in arteries. The people who eat the most animal protein have the most heart disease, cancer and diabetes.
There are many chemicals that cause disease. Indeed, 90-95% of our exposure to these chemicals comes from consuming animal products.
